Well Dear Reader Your Humble Narrator is snowed in away from his abode and determining the Wonderful Weekly Walloping (with thanks to SpankedHortic wit and coming up with that title) is rather risky and probably unadvisable. But should you hold my feet to the fire I must say that Little Darlings by Northern Spanking Starring my muse Leia Ann Woods and the darling Amy Hunter looks to be the best of them this week. Since there are 7 parts to this excellent video we can award the triple W some other week. Also as a bit of housecleaning business Your Humble Narrator has been playing around with galleries to bring in more of us with the same interest. So since they are all over the internet now I might as well start adding them to the gallery section of the Spanking Spot. You can find some nice material from Punished Brats on the Gallery Updates With that out of the way, lets get down to business shall we Dear Reader. The last time I ran a tech post it was about how to run the spanking material that you lovingly saved over the years on that pretty new high def TV. Today Dear Reader we shall discuss something that has potentially much farther reaching implications. Privacy. For extra money I used to run a fix at home computer business. Nothing too complicated mainly removing spyware from someone’s family computer because little jimmy was surfing Warez sites looking for the latest version of Pokémon manure and pearl. Now one of the most frequent questions I would usually get from my customers is how do I hide my dirty pictures/movies from my wife/girlfriend/significant other/teens/little people. In fact I was called to one house and squirreled away a gentleman’s porn from his wife only to be called a few weeks later by his wife (who ironically only saw my advertisement in the paper) to “unhide” her husbands porn. Not a bad business to be in indeed. So lets say Dear Reader that your spouse/significant other is less than understanding. Perhaps you might have little ones running around or would really not relish explaining to your teenager about the 12 gigabytes of lesbian transvestite midget porn. (hey who am I to judge!). First off rule #1 for keeping your interests hidden is to never ever keep it on your hard drive. Even if you have user accounts set up on the family computer someone with the right knowledge (hint any 10 year old) can access it. Sure you can encrypt the data with PGP but then you have to learn about encryption and if your going out of the county our soon to be police state in the US claims they can force you to log into your laptop at the border. No Dear Reader this is not a good idea. So what will you need to safely protect your proud collection from prying eyes. Well another other option is to keep a external drive in a safe place and only plug it in when you are saving or perusing your collection. Better then leaving it on your computers hard drive but kind of a pain in the ass. There is indeed another option Dear Reader. It will require a bit of hardware by the solution can be had for less then 200 (and if your lucky 100). So for starters Your Humble Narrator assumes that you have a router (wireless or other), and administrator rights to your machine. So the first thing you need to do is start scowering the deal sites and eBay for a NAS. NAS stands for Network Storage Appliance. It is basically a hard drive that instead of plugging into your computer you connect it directly to your router. They are a little more expensive then external HD’s but hey are more then worth it. Now that you have located a NAS and purchased it. Its time to hook everything up. Follow the directions (which are pretty simple). The next thing you need to do is set up different accounts for people accessing the computer. Depending on what operating system you have thing could be a bit different then what I describe here. In Windows you want to go to Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. Now in there you need to do two things. First make sure that your User account settings are set for ON. The second thing is to set up an account for yourself (with a password) and anyone else that needs to access the computer (with or without a password). So now what you want to do (it will probably need a reboot). Is to log onto your computer with your new logon and follow the NAS Directions on how to format and connect to your new drive. At this point you want to create a new directory and ONLY GIVE YOURSELF RIGHTS TO IT. Once you do that Dear Reader you are done! You can set up other directories on the NAS for other people but YOU control who has access to what. Should someone poke around your network the only thing they will see is the directory that they can’t access. Your computer meanwhile is clean enough for the Virgin Mary herself to surf the net (assuming you have clear private data when you close your browser set, You DO don’t you?) As an added bonus you can access your NAS from within the range of your wireless network thus enjoying your collection in safety and privacy of any room in your domicile. Brushstrokes Related Posts
