Welcome back Dear Reader. I happened to read over the weekend that spanking indeed lowers a child IQ. This of course would make all of use complete idiots. Which is odd since while Your Humble is rather strange I never thought of myself as an idiot. But they did a study and thus it must be true! Of course this couldn’t be that lower income people are more apt to spank their children then ones in a higher economic bracket and of course we wouldn’t dare suggest that rural parents more than likely use spanking more often than us city folk. No of course educational opportunities of course have nothing to do with it.
Now I am not indeed a huge fan of spanking as discipline for those under the age of 18. But it is indeed useful as a persuader of last resort. What irritates Your Humble Narrator (like what doesn’t) is that our lovely press loves to quote ridiculous statistics with absolutely no idea what they are talking about. You see Dear Reader, having an advanced degree in such things makes one quite skeptical since one can (and I have) make statistics mean just about any thing we want. The government does it, MADD does it, hell I think even the Christians do it and I’m not sure they even know what statistics is (other than evil of course).
Say for example I took a random sample of spankers and spankee readers on The Spanking Spot. Now let us say that 50% of the spankers suffer like Yours Truly from the lack of hair. I can then happily write a paper that the press will shout from the top of every building “SPANKING BARE BOTTOMS CAUSES BALDNESS” Ah I can see the headline now.
Now since we are all idiots from getting spanked from when we were younger, I doubt anyone can tell me what is indeed wrong with my analysis. So I will tell you Dear Reader. What I left out is that since my blog talks mainly about M/f spanking one can conclude that indeed most of my readers have the same interests. hence the spankee’s are likely to be women and the spankers are likely to be men, hence since 50% of us males suffer from baldness in one form or another there is really nothing different about us. This indeed is called covariance or the likelihood that one variable changes together with another which typically means that one is affected by the other. Since half our spankers were bald, but also happened to be men we indeed came to the wrong conclusion that spanking negatively affects hair growth.
