For those of us who have been watching and downloading spanking video’s for a while you more then likely 
remember California Star. During the Usenet days they were one of the most traded spanking videos pictures available. Now what happened to them as a company I know not. I do know that their site is now run by my blog hating friends at Girls Boarding School.
I have probably mentioned this before but the problem of them being blog haters is that I would love to hate them back. But Dear Reader. These guys are good, real good. To exclude them from my blog would be an injustice to those who read this column.
Someone can correct me on this since I have little information about how California Star came about. I do know I remember seeing their stuff as early as 1999. Since information from the GBS folks is rare I also have no idea how they came to acquire their material. But Dear Reader, after seeing how they lovingly restored the older video’s I am indeed glad they did.
Site Content and Cost
California Star Spanking or Hot Sun and Blistered Buns as all their banners read is almost exclusively a movie site specializing in the California star spanking content. If you have been around the spanking scene for a while you would be forgiven to think that this is only for nostalgic value (like myself). Happily Dear Reader you would be wrong. There is a tremendous amount of material here.
These are not merely “scenes” Dear Reader but full movies available to download. While there are a few sites that offer full movie downloads I doubt they have anywhere
near the material found on Calstar. At the time of this writing Calstar boasts 91 FULL movies available for download. The movies are available in parts or in full thankfully eliminated the need for a video joiner.
If you have limited room and decide to join this site I can tell you its time to go out and buy another hard drive because these movies are BIG. They run roughly between 50 and 60 minutes apiece. At an average of 55 minutes your talking about a staggering 83 HOURS of spanking viewing pleasure. (can anyone say spanking movie 
marathon?).
Cost for the site runs $29.95 per month (you can get a 14 day subscription for $24.95). That price drops to $16.95 for a 6 month stint and a very reasonable $13.95/month for a full year. At its most expensive monthly subscription you would be talking 35 CENTS per HOUR of spanking video’s. I have to look back but probably one of the cheapest spanking backlogs I have reviewed to date. 
After you get though the backlog (its going to take you a while) you can look forward to frequent updates. Since they offer no dates the updates occurred I cannot calculate the amount of new content you will get on a monthly basis. I can tell you this Dear Reader, due to the size of the movies they are quite reasonably released in parts. It looks as if they are updating a couple of movies at once. I do however have two complaints. First the “full Downloads” tend to be slow. Personally I would like to see this available after the last update is complete. The Second thing which really annoys me are these “bonus site Updates”. These so called bonus sites are little more then TGP sites. Worse still is they count these in their update schedule which I would consider bordering on deceit. A shame really since they have great material, the bonus nonsense is really not needed.
The Girls
If you have ever watched any of the California Star video’s the girls range from attractive to very hot. One or two of them I would have to say are drop dead gorgeous but not nearly as many as many of the “modern” sites. All the girls are quite spankable. The site looks to be evenly split between M/f and F/f spanking. both are quite enjoyable. But enough of me see the girls for yourselves.
Scenes, Outfits, Film Quality and of course the Spankings.
I would like to talk a little bit about film quality at this point. Whomever is running this site is restoring these classic spanking films with loving devotion. Now mind you Dear Reader, The quality is not up to snuff with the more modern spanking sites. But you can tell they did just about everything to enhance the quality of these movies short of remastering the original. Unfortunately most of these are video tape quality but its apparent they did all they could to boost it for our viewing pleasure.
Scenes are your typical spanking fare. I will give them a A for originality since there weren’t a whole lot of people producing spanking video’s when they made these. The site is conveniently split up between M/f, F/f, Schoolgirl and Domestic Spankings and they run the gambit of scenario’s. I did however enjoy the outside spanking. Not enough of these floating around. The same goes for the outfits. Nothing really to write home about. Schoolgirl dresses, skimpy black dresses some nice undies etc.
California Star always had the reputation for more of the mid range harder 
spankings. Nothing too brutal but hard enough to know it hurts. There are a couple of caning sessions that the welts could be considered on the brutal side but for the most part just good hard spankings.
On another note OTK lovers rejoice. Almost every scene has at least one good OTK spanking. Though I haven’t seen any with a good old fashion hairbrush yet! (still going though them).
Who will NOT like this site
If you demand the super high quality or have purchased every California Star video in existence you probably should skip this site. Also if your not an OTK lover you might be disappointed. There are caning’s and paddling but alot of the material is OTK
Who will LOVE this site
I am going to give Calstar my wholehearted recommendation for the spanking newbie just starting his/her collection. There is ALOT of material here. I would also recommend that you check it out if you enjoy either OTK or California Star video’s in general. Some very nice M/f stuff here as well. It seems that M/f is becoming an endangered species nowadays.

any info about who the ladies were who starred in “Justine” (now part of American Spanking Clasics #5)would be greatly appreciated. Their scren names were Carolyn Roberts and Beckie Lou Gates. After 20 years I still get aroused when “Rachel” (Justine”s “Mom”) pulls down Justine’s panties after flipping her dress up and telling her “I haven’t did this to you in a long time.”
I have been watching Calstar videos for well over 20 years now. You use to be able to rent a ton of them in our downtown porno shop. Thankfully you can get them online now.

Why do they seem eastern European?
I’ve never seen a video by them I want to watch more than once. Don’t know why, I just can’t recommend it.
the problem is far too many of these CalStar videos, once downloaded, simply won’t play, or if they start to play, they won’t play to a conclusion.
